scrubclubhockeyteam.com is the website of Scrub Club, a beer-league hockey team. It's run by the team, not a company. This page covers what the site keeps when you sign in to say you're in or out for a game, where that goes, and how to have it removed.
What anyone can see
The site is public. Anyone who visits can see:
- The roster: names, jersey numbers, USA Hockey registration numbers, and who is on the team, subbing or sitting out each season.
- Game results and each player's stats.
- Who has beer duty for each game.
- Who has said they're in or out for each upcoming game. If a teammate answered for you, it says so, like "Roy Ward (via JP)."
Signing in
To answer in or out, you sign in with your email. The site only sends a code to addresses on the team roster, and nobody gets a password. When you sign in, the site keeps:
- Your email and name, matched to your spot on the team roster.
- Your six-digit code, stored only in scrambled (hashed) form. It's deleted once you use it, or after 10 minutes.
- A sign-in session: a random token tied to your email, so you stay signed in on that device. It lasts up to a year and renews while you keep using the site. Signing out deletes it, and if your email comes off the roster, it stops working within five minutes.
- A count of code requests from your internet (IP) address, kept for one hour, so nobody can flood a teammate's inbox with codes.
On your device
Signing in stores one cookie, scrub, and one browser storage item, scrub.session. Both hold your sign-in token, and the storage item also holds your name and email so the page can show who's signed in. They last up to a year, and signing out removes them.
That's all. The site has no analytics, no ads and no tracking cookies.
Your answers
When you say in or out, the site saves your name, the game date, when you answered, and, if a teammate answered for you, who that was. Answers stay as the team's record of the season. You can change yours up to and including game day, and you can ask to have them deleted.
Assigning someone to beer duty writes that teammate's name to the team's spreadsheet. It doesn't record anything about who made the assignment.
Services the site uses
- Cloudflare runs the sign-in service, stores sessions and answers, sends the code emails, and keeps a copy of the public roster so pages load quickly. It keeps short technical logs, including errors, for a few days.
- GitHub Pages hosts the site and, like any web host, logs basic request details such as IP addresses.
- Google holds the team roster and beer log in a private Google Sheet. A Google Apps Script passes the site only the public parts, handles beer duty assignments, and checks sign-in emails against the roster. Google also serves the site's fonts, so your browser connects to Google when a page loads.
- Printful runs the team store. The Swag page's Buy buttons take you to Printful, which has its own privacy policy.
The team doesn't sell or share your information with anyone else, and nothing here is used for advertising.
The team spreadsheet
The roster spreadsheet also holds contact and payment details the team uses to run the season, like phone numbers, Venmo handles and dues. The site doesn't show them, and only the team's organizers can see them.
Who this is for
This is an adult rec league team. The site isn't meant for anyone under 18.
Questions or removal
To see what the site has about you, fix it, delete your answers, or stop being able to sign in, email the team. If anything on this page changes, the date at the top will change with it.
